Chapter "9.7 Localization" from the Debian Reference at
<http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/reference/ch-tune#s-l10n> was
enough to get me started (using en_US, de_DE, fr_FR and ja_JP),
so maybe it will help you as well.
More detailed information can be found in the "Introduction to i18n"
manual at <http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/intro-i18n/> or in the
numerous references within these docs.
