Thanks for help previously regarding the PowerEdge. The basic things are set up again, cleanly, and I'm exploring.
I went ahead and decided to install Sarge on an old Blue & White 350Mhz G3 at home. The install went fine, but when it was all over and I was brought to a login I was given a text prompt and the screen goes to black at regular, frequent, intervals. I can barely finish typing a login before it goes to black and it appears not to take my typing during the "black-outs" or characters seem to get taken oddly... anyway...
Not sure what is going on. I think I may have set the resolution too high during the setup, but I don't know how to go about fixing this (nor am I sure this is the case).
I have an ATI Rage 128 video card, and that, in combination with the monitor is supposed ot be capable up to 1600x1200 -- I may have set the wrong frequency or something. Anyway, I'm kind of stuck at even getting in to run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86.
