ISTR reading about this early on that the key trick is that there must be a copy of the driver module for each card specified in /etc/modules.conf. A quick review of the references doesn't bring it immediately to my attention or recall in detail, however, so I must apologise that I cannot offer the full solution at this point, but the dual entries are essential from what I recall in order to ensure that the kernel knows that the two are different interfaces. -- Mark L.
