The last time i tried, the installer didn't support installing to RAID / or /boot, and this was a topic of some discussion on this list, since some people think that the new installer is perfect and to think that other people want it to support more features is just shocking! :-) I used the HOWTO at http://alioth.debian.org/projects/rootraiddoc/ to convert my system to RAID 1 after the install, and it worked well. I chose the 2nd path, which was GRUB & initrd (lilo didn't work for me for some reason).
