I am using a D-Link router as the gateway between my cable modem and my home network. If I want to remotely access my Woody computer, I need to know the address assigned the gateway by the ISP's DHCP server. I could then configure an open port in the gateway router so I could access the server.
Long ago, when I was using SLIP and PPP dialup, I used a Windoze utility to post the IP on a server using FTP. I could then look at this file on the server to see what the current IP was, thus accessing my home computer remotely. How does one do this using Debian? I gather I would invoke a process from cron, but what utility does this? Dave -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
