You did check the MD5 sum, right? When I installed Sarge (Debian Testing) recently, my first CD-ROM did burn defectively, and I know it's not uncommon. Well, I found the problem. It turns out that I was trying to install from the 2nd disk :( I realized this after I posted. I am a little surprised that it did the initial partitioning being that it was the 2nd disk. It was my first time using jigdo and I don't know what I did wrong; perhaps I mistyped the file name. Thanks for your help, Raymond
