Uh... WHAT? Preventing you from using LINUX? How? There is somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 solutions to your problem. Ranging from fixing the preferred application, to using other mail-clients(evolution, mutt, kmail, etc...) and using emacs with a mail plugin and openlink from a GNOME-TERMINAL.
