If you are running the stock kernel, forget it - I meant the configuration of your kernel :-) A stock kernel should be perfectly OK for anything you ever want to do with Debian. What is the output of ifconfig? Does your network work well, apart from the tcpdump/ethereal problem? Cheers, -- W.
