Hi!
I have a small problem with my newly aquired DVD/CDRW combo drive. I tried to google for it already but despite getting lots of hits I did not find any usefull answer sofar.
Reading/writing CD's works fine, but as soon as I insert a DVD into the drive, the kernel starts right away (even without any userspace programm accessing the drive) to report:
hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdc: packet command error: error=0x50 hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } hdc: packet command error: error=0x50 ...
Every second one pair of those messages, on and on until I remove the DVD again. Still, it is NO problem to play the DVD. What is the meaning of this error message? And how to get rid of it?
The drive in question is a QuantumStorage SBW-241, I use it in my IBM ThinkPad T20.
I use a stock 2.6.7 kernel, during start up the kernel reports:
... hda: IBM-DJSA-220, ATA DISK drive ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 hdc: QSI CD-RW/DVD-ROM SBW-241, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15 hda: max request size: 128KiB hda: 39070080 sectors (20003 MB) w/1874KiB Cache, CHS=38760/16/63, UDMA(33) hda: hda1 hda2 < hda5 hda6 hda7 hda8 hda9 hda10 > hdc: ATAPI 24X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 2048kB Cache, UDMA(33) Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 ...
Hdparm reports
IO_support = 0 (default 16-bit) unmaskirq = 0 (off) using_dma = 1 (on) keepsettings = 0 (off) readonly = 1 (on) readahead = 256 (on)
If successfully set the region code to 2 (with "regionset 2"), but this didn't change anything.
Any clue? Anything I missed?
