I am running a new installation of Sid and can't seem to get the modem up. lspci -vv shows: 02:0a.0 Serial controller: 5610 56K FaxModem 56K FaxModem Model 5610 (rev 01) (prog-if 02 [16550]) Subsystem: 5610 56K FaxModem USR 56k Internal Voice Modem (Model 2976) Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 22 Region 0: I/O ports at dfe0 [size=8] Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2+ AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0+,D1-,D2+,D3hot+,D3cold+) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=2 PME-
There is a line from dmesg with the above port and irq: ttyS14 at I/O 0xdfe0 (irq = 22) is a 16550A However, there is no ttyS14 in /dev/. Do I need to make it somehow? I also have Fedora running on this computer. It recognizes the modem fine. /dev/modem -> /dev/ttyS4 I tried setserial as follows: setserial /dev/ttyS4 uart 16550A port 0xdfe0 irq 22 autoconfig ln -sf /dev/ttyS4 /dev/modem I followed this with "pppd call provider". I don't believe it activated the modem. Any thoughts as to how I might proceed? Gary Parker Cayuse, OR -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
