try this.. change the location for mysqld.sock location under [mysqld] and [mysqld_safe] (in /etc/mysql/my.cnf) to /var/spool/postfix/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock .. ln /var/spool/postfix/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock to /var/run/mysqld/ ... your going to have to create /var/run/mysqld in /var/spool/postfix and make sure ownership's right. restart mysql.
