I have a tricky problem and dont really know where to go with it. I have a HP direct Jet lan printer, now I have printcap setup so that it thinks its a text printer. heres a clip of what printcap says.
Printcap file : lp|hp:\ :lp=:\ :rp=text:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\ :rm=10.10.1.3:\ :mx#0:\ :sh: when I print a text file using lpr. everything works, IE it prints. when using some application to print which uses standard input, it just sits in que and does nothing.. lpq command readout. bill:lpq bill: Warning: no daemon present Rank Owner Job Files Total Size 1st someuser 12 (standard input) 2782 bytes JetDirect lpd: no jobs queued on this port so, basically is there some way to make it print using standard input? as a footnote I tried using :rp=raw: and it would print standard input, but it did the staircase problem.. I never thought I would have such a difficult time making linux print! arrgh! Thanks Kent -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
