Thank you, Baurjan! My /etc/network/interfaces is: -------------------------- auto lo iface lo inet loopback
auto eth0 iface inet static address 212.42.106.27 netmask 255.255.255.248 network 212.42.106.24 broadcast 212.42.106.31 gateway 212.42.106.25 ---------------------------- I'm sure the addresses I use above are correct. But I still can't ping 212.42.106.27 (which is ala-too.com). As a network card I use BCM5703 Gigabit Ethernet. Are there any methods to check what's the problem??? askar > -----Original Message----- > From: Baurjan Ismagulov [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Sunday, June 27, 2004 5:52 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: in order to use global IP > > Hello, Askar! > > On Sun, Jun 27, 2004 at 05:30:18PM +0600, askar wrote: > > Are the following setting files enough to be able to use global IP address: > > 1) /etc/hosts > > 2) /etc/network/interfaces > > 3) /etc/resolv.conf > > Strictly speaking, you need only (2).
