    Operative word "if you use emacs".  Newsflash, most people don't use emacs
therefore any "solution" which begins with "load emacs" is not a universal
solution.  Of more value to wider audience would be one of the following:

a: since this was a GUI/CLI discussion pointing out the various GUI options
which fit the bill, not all of which require either of the named GUI enviromnets.
b: since this was a GUI/CLI discussion pointing out the various CLI options
which fit the bill, all of which are smaller than emacs.
c: since this was discussing a particular inability of shells to do something
you could have pointed out that some shells do offer ways around that problem
without extra packages installed.

    Instead you decided to troll and I, stupidly, fell for it.
