Hi Cecil, you may need them to run certain applications, e. g. KDE for Konqueror or Gnome for Evolution. Apart from that, my personal preference is none of them. Just pwm as window manager, mc as file manager and procmeter for some system info. (Left click on desktop = debian menu, right click = task list, what else do I need?)
