man lilo.conf may help

I can't say for sure because I'm not yet running 2.6 kernel, but perhaps
it's lba32 option?

Here are some of the lines from my lilo.conf:

---
lba32

boot=/dev/hda

root=/dev/hda7

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.26-1-686
        label=2.4.26-1-686
        initrd=/boot/initrd.img-2.4.26-1-686
        read-only
---

Note the initrd option line in my "image" stanza for my 2.4.26 kernel.
