In my /etc/profile file, I wrote: "PATH="/opt/j2sdk1.4.2_04/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin""

First, you should append /opt/j2sdk1.4.2_04/bin to the _end_ of your PATH variable, not the beginning.

PATH is only: "/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games"

I use kterm, but my problem is the same when I use an icon of a program that use java. So I want the PATH to be always there for any use.
