SOLVED! I needed to apt-get install x-window-system-core. I was missing the xfonts I think, at least that what the main failure was when I was trying to start KDE. Whew! I must have done that the hard way... But it's working great now and I've got a beautiful KDE desktop. I think that the problem was trying to install kde with apt-get. I thought going in that "apt-get install kde" would do the work for me. I didn't really want to install the whole desktop environment package with Gnome and all from Aptitude. But obviously apt-get doesn't take care of everything for you. In summary, I think that you could get kde running with the following: apt-get install kde kdm xserver-xfree86 x-window-system-core And I don't think I went past cd 3 of the set. I did have to download a few things, but really almost nothing... Hooray! Thanks for all the help! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
