I am still having problem with my Radeon 8500 and
Xfree 4.3.0, and kernel 2.6.6
I have the followin in my Xfree86.log

but glxinfo return the following:

display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: No
what am i missing?
I know 3D works with Knoppix but I cannot get it to
work with Debian SID
