I run fluxbox not metacity and I don't use gnome-session; I have no session manager. Here's what I had been running in my .xsession to start up gnome-settings-daemon: gnome-settings-daemon & GSDPID=$! while lsof -u$USER | awk 'BEGIN { found = 0; } ($2 == "'$GSDPID'") && ($8 ~ /orbit-'$USER'/) { found = 1; next } END { exit found }' do sleep 1 done sleep 1 after some advice I got on the list. What command would I run to "start up" gnome settings under the new 2.6 stuff now that gnome-settings-daemon is gone?
