dselect - forget a bad selection?

So dselect, when trying to upgrade a Gnome 2.6 package (I believe) 
recommended that I uninstall basically all of KDE due to a library 
conflict.  Instead of backing out of the suggestion I went with it, but 
didn't go to the install phase.

Now each time I try to run dselect, the same erroneous selections are 
there.  Is there anyone to clear the memory of what packages are going 
to be upgraded/removed?
