I recently gave up on uw-imapd for a variety of reasons and switched to
mailutils-imap4d.
Two problems for which I can't find any documentation:
- It doesn't appear to support TLS/SSL. Although apparently it is built
with --enable-tls, I don't see TLS advertised by the server, and can't
connect, e.g., with mutt at imaps://hostname. Any ideas how to get
this to work?
- fetchmail no longer works to fetch from the server. I get the
following error:
Error setting mail group: Operation not permitted
Using the following fetchmail configuration file:
poll hostname with proto imap:
plugin "ssh -2 %h /usr/sbin/imap4d" auth ssh;
mda "/usr/bin/procmail -d %T"
keep
This configuration worked fine with uw-imapd. (I had to change
/usr/sbin/imapd to /usr/sbin/imap4d).
I can't find any documentation at all about this error message or how
to resolve it.
