To whom it may concern,

        since it costed me some time to get it working, here
for any others who may want to run the same combination as I do:

        Kernel 2.4.26
        Sitecom WL-011 wireless 802.11 Atmel based PCMCIA
         (formerly run with the pcmf50xxx modules)

install vanilla kernel image (using 2.4.26-2 right now)
        check for the existence of

/lib/modules/2.4.26-x-yyy/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/atmel_cs.o

test with 'modprobe atmel_cs && lsmod | grep atmel'

install kernel-pcmcia-modules (also 2.4.26-2)

install atmel-firmware from

http://thekelleys.org.uk/atmel/atmel-firmware_1.0-1_i386.deb

modify /etc/pcmcia/config-2.4 to include

        device "atmel_cs"
          class "network" module "atmel_cs"

modify /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts to include

        # ATMEL WIRELESS
        *,*,*,*:60:B3:*:*:*)
            INFO="Sitecom WL011"
            ESSID="any"
            ;;

        You might have to modify the mac address spec to
match yours, check with dump_cis

modify your /etc/network/interfaces to your hearts content
ifup that *****!

Thanks to Simon Kelley for the driver.

Sincerly,

Jan.
