I have decided that the problem must be caused by a problem between cron and postfix. I have postfix installed on this machine and the stalled processes include a pipe between cron and postfix (sendmail).
Two questions. Has anyone else experienced this and come up with a fix? or, does anyone know how to change the mail settings for cron? I am getting the cron emails, so the problem is not complete incompatiblility, but the processes aren't ending cleanly and exiting. What I can't figure out is how to change the cron mailer settings that result in the following command: /usr/sbin/sendmail -i -FCronDaemon -odi -oem root Any help greatly appreciated!
