i also tend to agree with you now. i do not think my exim set-up is flawed.
I think the above lines indicate that the message was accepted and delivered to the smarthost (it's been a while since I've seen a failure so I can't be sure). You can verify with 'exim -bp' to see if you queue is empty.
it is empty.
hey, since exim is doing its job, there is not paniclog and no rejectlog eitherYou can also look in the paniclog and rejectlog to determine if something is wrong.
Any host that accepts SMTP for your mail can be ai too thought so. but am faced with the problem that exim washes its hands clean saying the transfer to smarthost was competed. i think that is what it means by 'completed' in mainlog file. but the smtp server doesnot do anything.
smarthost.

Don't panic! You will get it to work (keep in mind that in the last year you are the rare Debian user on this list who has had so much trouble with exim,
S C A R Y!
i too think so. but this has helped me learn a lot - the best way to keep young!so perhaps this might be a local problem with your network, rather than with Debian's exim setup).
I think your problem might be the @deshmukh.work domain name you invented for yourself.
do you think i should change it to escortsmumbai.com? will it help?
Something or someone in the mail delivery path is upset with it and is not accepting your mail. As a result, the mail is being bounced back to you, but it can't reach you.
i think you have a point here
(If it was your local exim that was upset, this is exactly the kind of message that would be "frozen").
agreed!
for qualify_domain it says deshmukh.work. qualify_receipient line is commented out. could you elaborate a bit more here? What are qualify_domain and qualify_recipent set to at the top of your exim.conf file? If you say 'deshmukh.work' for any of them I'd be pretty confident that you've found your (next? :-) problem.
PS: I took the liberty of trying to send a test message to the address you used above that had a broken From header.
what address do you mean? sorry - i am confused here!
My exim was a little too well configured and it fixed it my broken message for me. So you got it.
i am yet to see it! but surely i will reply if i get it!
no problems. such spam is welcome!Apologies for the spam ;-)
i thank the list again for being patient with my troubles. it has been a gret experience with me! i am feeling increasingly sure that i will be able to solve the problem. and my special thanx to 'spammer' ;) shyamal
