I did this to a 300 CD collection recently.
I used jack to rip CDs. I just used the standard jack file name
format.
I use xmms to play music.
I did a few CDs that jack could not rip completely. I used abcde to
get the *.wav files off the CD, and then hacked the jack files to
continue. That was my only complaint about jack, and I never figured
out why it did this. (grip was a complete failure in this regards, I
suspect it is my Sony DVD/CD-ROM drive that is the cause).
