Yep, i spent the summer writing web services, and basically came up with the definition that they were basically application level protocols that transfer information (mostly XML) with the http protocol. Then i had to use a web services library that used an extension (and non compatible) http based protocol, so i currently have no specific defination. It just seems that everyone is using the term to make their product buzzword compliant, and as no one really knows what it means, a 'web services product' can do pretty much anything. Oh the fun of marketing.
