Ok, I renamed foomatic-gswrapper to *.orig, and I got a test page to print. However, it only printed the following message: "**** Unable to open the initial device, quitting." The paper then remains in the printer with out feeding, and I have to manually eject it. I'm thinking that the hpijs driver fails, which causes the paper not to feed out.
Ok, so the printer is seen, but if the intial device can not be opened, why would I get the printed mesage of this? Two questions: 1. Does anyone know what can cause this failure with hpijs? 2. Why would foomatic prevent this senerio taking place, even though it is a failed attempt?
