I've used both gqview and gthumb. I like gqview better (mainly because
it opens the directory the image is in by default instead of a default
directory specified in the preferences), but I had some problems with it
due to the libpng2 -> libpng3 migration in unstable. Both can do all
three of the items you require, however. In addition, you can specify
the size of thumbnail that's created, rotate images to view (and save
that setting for later), and show slideshows based on catalogs you make
(that can be either a single directory or span multiple directories).
