I've upgrated to woody and I get the following behavior: telnet localhost
is very slow (15s) to get the telnet answer (Trying 127.0.0.1) and then another 15s to get the prompt. I think this is related to ipv6 because telnet -4 localhost is quick to get the telnet answer but still slow to get the prompt. If I remove the "dns" in hosts: files dns then I get a quick telnet answer and a quick prompt. I assume telnet (without the -4) and telnetd first try to find an IPv6 record, timeout and revert to the IPv4 one. FWIW, the kernel is compiled without IPv6 support. My question is: how to get quick answer for hosts in the /etc/hosts file without removing DNS support?
