Whenever anyone mentions mice and X11 the topic of "is gpm configured" or not always comes up too. Search the archive for gpm related postings. I don't know if this is your problem but it seems likely. In a nutshell if you use gpm to get a mouse in the console then you need the following in /etc/gpm.conf. Or at least this is mine which works fine for my touch screen. A wheel mouse needs 'type imps2'. device=/dev/psaux responsiveness= repeat_type=raw type=ps2 append="" sample_rate= And since gpm produces the repeater output in /dev/gpmdata then your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file needs /dev/gpmdata instead of /dev/psaux. This gives you a fully functional mouse both in the console and in X11. Alternatively you can remove the gpm and just use /dev/psaux for X11. But then no mouse on the raw screen. Which may be fine if you never use it there. Bob
