sddm.log is empty and daemon.log shows the following message: Aug 31 18:02:10 xxx systemd[1]: sddm.service: Service hold-off time over, scheduling restart. Aug 31 18:02:10 xxx systemd[1]: Stopped Simple Desktop Display Manager. Aug 31 18:02:10 xxx systemd[1]: sddm.service: Start request repeated too quickly. Aug 31 18:02:10 xxx systemd[1]: Failed to start Simple Desktop Display Manager. Aug 31 18:02:10 xxx systemd[1]: sddm.service: Unit entered failed state. Aug 31 18:02:10 xxx systemd[1]: sddm.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. Manually starting sddm via /var/log/sddm (re)start also fails silently. Please let me know, which additional information you need to investigate the issue.
