Hey, please report this problem upstream under bugs.kde.org and link this with the upstream tag to debian. If you don't know how to do this just send the upstream link via mail.
If the problem is solved by upstream we can backport the patch. So far as I followed the conversation on the kdepim-users list, also other versions and distros are affected by this bug and no one has a solutions, this means that it looks like a upstream bug. Just to make sure you have everything relevant installed. For having search expiriece, you need akonadi-search. But I'm currently too busy to push things on my own. For me the workaround to delete "Last Search" works. Just one one thing, if I use "edit search" from the context menu of "Last Search" I see the new search criteria. So the new search criteria is saved, but this does not trigger a new search.
