Hi,
did i respond right? I'm not really sure....
the Font is available AND i can configure and use it. I think (atm i'm not sure, but i will retest it) Andale Mono was configured first.

So it is just not set in the config, it IS on the system.
i will try to debug it, if i have any idea how to do that.

The default font used by konsole is the Mono font configured in the
system settings, I think that the current default Monospace, that should
be provided by dejavu mono, which is the default font in Debian.

If by some reason you don't have the font that's configured in the
system settings then this could be a different version of the upstream
bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359669

Happy hacking,

    Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate

       * What led up to the situation?
After installation the konsole or with an empty user, the size of the
font
is small and it is overall hard too read
       * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
         ineffective)?
setting the font and its size via Settings does help, but i think this is
not a good standard configuration. For example in ubuntu unity it is much
better readable in the standard configuration
       * What was the outcome of this action?
Better readability in the konsole program
       * What outcome did you expect instead?
       Better standard configuration i suppose?
