You seem to have this line in LyX debian/rules: export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all Replace it with: export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all,-pie export DEB_CXXFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND = -fPIC and it should build fine. -- Dmitry Shachnev
