Green shield in Panel. Good, but redundant. Hidden is better, less
real estate, only showing (red) when attention required. Green Hidden is
sufficient indication of successful update / all up-to-date.

Now, if you're dealing with Panel behaviour, how about the Pager widget?
It's probably doing what it ought, but the startup Virtual Desktops (VDs
:) ) don't restore to their shutdown conditions. All apps active on
shutdown appear (except all Dolphins), but not necessarily in their
shutdown desktops. Is shutdown/restart too precipitous to allow saving
config data?
If this is not in your bailiwick, can you pass it on to the appropriate
area? It's another "homologation" point.
