* What led up to the situation?
After doing some other upgrades and restarting lxdm and KDE, I experienced
an iceweasel lock up earlier in the process than normal, and on a subsequent
effort experienced a lock up of KDE when I had no applications open in
plasma but had attempted to open a konsole session.
Looking at the process list the last processes listed were kwin and drkonqui.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
Between each attempt at restarting iceweasel I would attmpt to shut down
KDE cleanly (usually involving kill -9 on the kdinit5 processes and kill -HUP
on the iceweasel process), then bring up KDE again and shut it down again.
On the most recent successful attempt rather than kill -HUP on iceweasel
after kill -9 on kdeinit5, I let iceweasel continue starting up then shut
iceweasel down normally before exiting KDE and restarting. iceweasel then
started successfully.
On previous occasions where iceweasel locked up, I would see something in
console output about a segfault in kactivitymanagerd_plugin_sqlite.so
