Hi John, Thanks for working on this. I had previously also worked on a systemd unit last year but due to the lack of feedback from KDE maintainers I stopped working on it. My patch from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=754314 retains the kdmrc customisation currently present in the sysvinit script; maybe you can fold that one into your patch?
