Yes. I think that can be done better. I didn't add that mkspec :-) I suspect it can be removed, but I don't know the codebase well enough to decide exctly how. -m64 is bad practice anyway IMHO. Compilers should use <triplet>-gcc everywhere and it would just work, and be unambiguous, instead of various different flags for 'some other multilib' on various compilers/cross-compilers. Sadly it's probably too ingrained to get rid of on x86.
