Enabling pate generates a build dependencies loop that ends up with with kate requiring kate to build (this is due the fact that kate is the ktexteditor part provider for kde, thus kde-runtime depends on it). This could be solved splitting the katepart and kate sources, as done upstream for kf5, it would have been nice to have the splitted packages for kde4, but it's not a trivial effort.
