Found this bug report trying to work with qtcreator + qt5 on Debian recently. I'm not sure if I actually solved the problem, but I've had more luck after installing some of the qtdeclarative5-* packages (specifically in the case of getting the basic demo working, I installed qtdeclarative5-qtquick2-plugin I think). Would be interesting to know if that helps anybody else get rolling with qtcreator. For reference I did the same thing on a Ubuntu 14.04 system to get it working after having the same problem there too.
