Package: pkg-kde-tools Version: 0.14.3 Severity: wishlist As suggested on IRC, please consider using xz compression for the KDE SC packages. It should shrink the size of binary packages noticable[1].
To switch to xz, just call dh_builddeb -- -Zxz instead of plain dh_builddeb when using debhelper. If you care about (direct) upgrades from Lenny[3], you should also add a Pre-Depends: dpkg (>= 1.15.6~) to the binary packages. Note that xz compression must not be used for packages in the base system (Priority: required and dependencies), but I guess no KDE package should be in there. Regards, Ansgar [1] A comparison of package size for Squeeze is available at [2]. The format is <filename> <old-size> <size-with-xz> <xz-compared-to-old-in-%>. [2] <http://people.debian.org/~ansgar/squeeze-with-xz.txt.gz> [3] or from Ubuntu Lucid, but as Ubuntu already stopped importing packages from Debian for their next LTS, this should not matter much any longer. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
