Package: kde-window-manager Version: 4:4.4.4-1 Severity: normal I upgraded my box on Tuesday with whatever was due in safe-upgrade testing. Previously OpenGL compositing worked perfectly well with the AMD fglrx driver. Since the upgrade I can only run KDE4 with window compositing turned off, to xrender or with the radeonhd xorg driver.
Other OpenGl applications seem to function correctly. I'm guessing it's an interaction between the OpenGL bits of the fglrx driver and KDW4's window manager that is causing the problem, but I'm not sure what. If I turn compsiting on with OpenGL the pop to confirm window is blank, so if you wait the 15 seconds it reverts back to xrender. Because xrender with fglrx and the radeonhd driver in any mode is too slow, I've turned compositing off at the moment. I can still run other OpenGL apps with out a problem under KDE4, glxgears is perfecly happy. fglrx details: ii fglrx-atieventsd 1:10-6-1 ii fglrx-control 1:10-6-1 ii fglrx-driver 1:10-6-1 ii fglrx-glx 1:10-6-1 ii fglrx-glx-ia32 1:10-6-1 ii fglrx-modules-dkms 1:10-6-1 xorg: ii xserver-xorg 1:7.5+6 ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.7.7-2 ii xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.3.2-6 ii xserver-xorg-input-kbd 1:1.4.0-2 ii xserver-xorg-input-mouse 1:1.5.0-2 ii xserver-xorg-video-dummy 1:0.3.3-2 ii xserver-xorg-video-fbdev 1:0.4.2-2 ii xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd 1.3.0-3 ii xserver-xorg-video-vesa 1:2.3.0-3 >From my xorg.conf file: Section "Device" Identifier "Sapphire HD3450 [ATI HD3450]" Driver "fglrx" Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy" Option "AccelDFS" "true" Option "EnablePageFlip" "true" Option "EnableDepthMoves" "true" BusID "PCI:1:0:0" EndSection BTW, X crashes horribly without the BusID line. This may be the same as bug #573080, but from the desription I'm not sure if it is the same problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kde-window-manager depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.4-1 runtime components from the offici ii libc6 2.11.2-2 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 7.7.1-3 A free implementation of the OpenG ii libice6 2:1.0.6-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libkdecorations4 4:4.4.4-1 library used by decorations for th ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.4-2 the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.4-2 the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkephal4 4:4.4.4-1 API for easier handling of multihe ii libkio5 4:4.4.4-2 the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libknewstuff3-4 4:4.4.4-2 the "Get Hot New Stuff" v3 Library ii libkutils4 4:4.4.4-2 various utility classes for the KD ii libkwineffects1a 4:4.4.4-1 library used by effects for the KD ii libkworkspace4 4:4.4.4-1 library for the kdebase workspace ii libplasma3 4:4.4.4-2 the Plasma Library for the KDE Pla ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-xml 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.3-1 Qt 4 GUI module ii libsm6 2:1.1.1-1 X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++6 4.4.4-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3 X11 client-side library ii libxcomposite1 1:0.4.1-1 X11 Composite extension library ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.3-1 X11 damaged region extension libra ii libxext6 2:1.1.1-3 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes3 1:4.0.4-2 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxrandr2 2:1.3.0-3 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.5-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii perl 5.10.1-13 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction kde-window-manager recommends no packages. kde-window-manager suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
