I have tested it here with 4:4.3.4-1, and it still exists and with the same steps for reproduction. What I have noticed is that the visible marker (highlighter) for the selected message sometimes disappears when changing sorting order, but I'm not sure when. Just wondering, did you reproduce the problem with an older version? In any case, I have just taken a few screenshots to illustrate the problem, just in case my description was unclear.
