reassign 533897 nvidia-graphics-drivers thanks
OK, I investigated a bit, and found the problem. mesa-common-dev depends on libx11-dev nvidia-glx-dev does not depend on libx11-dev Both packages provide libgl-dev (either directly or indirectly) which satisfies that dependancy. I have nvidia-glx-dev installed, which means nothing ensured libx11-dev was installed. Hence this is a bug in nvidia-graphics-driver instead.
