At least kicker and quite likely other KDE apps (konqueror) completely ignore Contex, Size and actual icon theme when reading icons. Stracing kicker shows it stat-ing all over the place.
I have a similar problem on NFS root-ed systems. Basically the icon load is completely b0rken beyond recognition and the sole reason nobody notices is that most people run of hard drives. If this is fixed there will be a considerable improvement in both power consumption on laptops and in performance. In the meantime I will try to work around this by prining /usr/share/icons on the NFS server and rehashing the actual icons into one directory per size. However, this should be fixed. It is definitely B0RKEN. -- Understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, their side, and the truth. --Kosh Naranek A. R.
