Hello, I wanted to confirm that if a user never did run a KDE session (such as me), Phonon does not work.
In addition, the Qt4 documentation should be updated to reflect necessary #includes. For instance, to use Phonon::VideoPlayer, Qt4 docs say #include <Phonon> Whereas what I actually needed was #include <phonon/videoplayer.h> For the plugins problems, it looks like it might just be necessary to add a symlink from /usr/lib/kde4/plugins/phonon_backend to /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/ to the libphonon4 package.
