Uhm, no, I don't think that this is the problem :-) One detail I forgot to mention: I added ftp.de.debian.org as Debian mirror during the installation setup. And I assume that the package kde-i18n-de should have been downloaded from there. E.g. the i10n-de-package for OpenOffice was downloaded and installed correctly.
