Package: kopete Version: 4:3.5.9-4 Severity: normal To create passwords I prefer to use pwgen and then paste them into the programs that need them. In the case of Jabber that means pasting it into the server and the client. Kopete does not well support this because it disables paste for both entering a password in the configuration, and for registering an account.
I believe that rejecting a pasted password encourages users to use shorter passwords and therefore decreases security. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kopete depends on: ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6 core libraries and binaries for al ii libc6 2.7-14 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgadu3 1:1.8.0+r592-2 Gadu-Gadu protocol library - runti ii libgcc1 1:4.3.2-1 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgsmme1c2a 1.10-13 GSM mobile phone access library ii libidn11 1.8+20080606-1 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libmeanwhile1 1.0.2-3 open implementation of the Lotus S ii libqt3-mt 3:3.3.8b-5 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libstdc++6 4.3.2-1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxml2 2.6.32.dfsg-4 GNOME XML library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxslt1.1 1.1.24-2 XSLT processing library - runtime Versions of packages kopete recommends: ii qca-tls 1.0-4 TLS plugin for the Qt Cryptographi Versions of packages kopete suggests: pn ekiga <none> (no description available) ii gnupg 1.4.9-3 GNU privacy guard - a free PGP rep ii imagemagick 7:6.3.7.9.dfsg1-2+b2 image manipulation programs pn kdeartwork-emoticon <none> (no description available) pn khelpcenter <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
