kde in etch supports showing a panel when the cursor is at the top, bottom,
left,
right, top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or top-right parts of the screen.
kde in sarge supports only top, bottom, left, and right.
On upgrading to etch, my setting of bottom is consistently changed to bottom
left.
This creates a situation in which it seems as though the panel has crashed or
vanished, when in fact it is simply difficult to find.
The relevant preference is accessed by kde menu -> Control Center -> Desktop ->
Panels -> Hiding -> "Raise when the pointer touches the screen's:".
